NOTES:

Listen to your client instead of writing while they talk.

With your clients permission, hit record at a client appointment and the words appear on screen as you speak — so you’re paying attention to the person in front of you instead of your notepad. When you’re done, file the transcript under the client or the deal it came from.

And it isn’t only for clients. Record your team meeting, a sit-down with your lender, title rep or inspector, or the continuing-ed classes you’d otherwise have forgotten by Friday. You can also just write a note to yourself that isn’t attached to anybody.

How you are currently working:

  • Scribbling in a notebook while your client is talking

  • Trying to type it up while listening at the same time

  • Filing your notes away somewhere you hope you won't lose it

  • Trying to recall the information you didn't get written down

How you COULD be working:

  • You can watch it working:  The words appear as you speak, so you can see it’s catching everything rather than hoping it did.

  • Every type of meeting:  Client appointments, team meetings, affiliate meetings, classes and CE — anything you’d otherwise half-remember a week later.

  • Your own notes too:  Not everything belongs to a client. Why wouldn't you keep your personal notes here as well so you always have a consistent place to go.

  • Filed where you’ll find it:  Attach to the client, the deal, or the affiliate it came from — so six weeks later the conversation is right where you’d look for it, not in a voice memo you’ll never open again.
